Parr Hare & Hounds 16 Halton Hornets 48
A SEOCND-half collapse saw Hounds swept aside by a strong-running Hornets side.
The home men started well and looked the better team in the opening quarter, but their inability to build on scores and a tendency to surrender possession meant they could never rest easy.
Hounds led 16-10 with just minutes to go to half-time, thanks to tries by Mike Corrigan, Paul Sherwood and Paul Roberts, plus two goals by Kevin Parylo. But once the visitors had taken the lead for the first time just before the interval the home defence collapsed like a pack of cards.
Aided and abetted by some woeful tackling, Hornets went on to run in 38 points without reply for an ultimately comfortable and well-deserved success.
Best for Hounds were prop Paul Sherwood, his brother Ian and young centre Lee Johnson.
