Adlington Rangers 26 Haresfinch 6
FINCH put up a spirited display against one of the promotion favourites in a penalty-punctuated game that was much closer than the scoreline suggests.
Adlngton opened the scoring with a converted try and a penalty goal. Finch replied with a penalty by Anthony Seabrook, but two more to the home side and a second converted try saw them lead 18-2 at the interval.
Yet another penalty stretched the home side's advantage early in the second half before Finch scored the best try of the match when Seabrook fired out a long pass to centre Allan Barker who sent wing partner Wayne Sumner tearing in at the corner.
But Adlington had the final say with an unconverted try and yet another penalty to complete the scoring.
Seabrook took the Franco's Wholesale Ltd. man-of-the-match for Finch, stand-off John Jackson was awarded the Fran's News players' award, while prop John Woods turned in a powerful display.
