THE body of a woman driver was discovered lying at the bottom of a ravine by a walker.
Stephen Hill, of Heysham Road, Heysham, was out walking in the Trough of Bowland yesterday afternoon at the Langden Intake near Dunsop Bridge when he saw a car lying at the bottom of an embankment.
Mr Hill called the police and officers from Clitheroe found the body of the woman lying by the side of her Rover Metro at the bottom of a steep embankment.
The air ambulance was called and paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene and helped recover the body from the base of the embankment.
She has since been identified as Miss Maureen Johnston, 58, of Rochester Avenue, Morecambe.
A police spokesman said it was not clear how long the body had been there, but there were no suspicious circumstances.
They added that the death did not seem to be the result of a road accident.
