A FEW hours after being cautioned for vandalising a phone box in Clitheroe two 11-year-old boys were caught pushing themselves around in a £1,500 stolen wheelchair.

The specially-made chair had been reported stolen from a unit at Pendle Trading Estate, Chatburn.

The youngsters had been seen taking turns to sit in the chair while the other pushed.

Earlier the boys had been taken to the police station after vandalising the public telephone box in the town's Pimlico Road. They had smashed around a dozen window panes in the traditional-style phone box causing damage estimated at £100.

The police said yesterday that they were interviewing the pair about the wheelchair incident.
