FOUR members of St Helens Striders took part in the Parbold Hill race at the weekend.
In probably one of the toughest events in the running calendar, the course takes in tracks, fields and the infamous hill, with bog-like conditions.
Dennis Wharton completed the 6.5 miles course in 50 mins 5secs finishing with an overall position of 57th. Gill Jones, defending her title as first lady to finish, had to be content with runner-up, nevertheless she ran well with a time of 52min 17secs, coming home in 78th. Brian Middleton slugged it out with Les Abbott as they finished with times of 55mins 29 (130th), and 55min 54 (136th) respectively.
