PITCH-ER THIS: Emma Heyes, 11, and pal Cecily Atkinson, 11, warm up for their football coaching session
GIRLS proved they were just as keen as boys when it comes to football at a half-term coaching session.
The training was held at Shadsworth Leisure Centre, in Blackburn.
Joyce Tattersall, active sports development officer, said: "This was the first time we had organised a session for girls and we had fifty come along.
They were aged seven to 11 and we split them up into four groups on age and size and it went really well.
"Some had some footballing experience and others just came along to find out what it was all about."
The groups taught ball skills, passing skills, how to stop and turn and in the final group the girls got the chance to have a mini game.
A football course will start at Shadsworth on March 3 from 10am to 11am and will be for girls aged seven to 11 and boys from five to nine.
