deliver BOLTON Wanderers failed to deliver in front of their biggest crowd since their relegation from the Premier League, being held by lowly Grimsby at the Reebok last night.
Goals from Gudni Bergsson and Bo Hansen spared Bolton's blushes against a determined Grimsby who had twice taken the lead in a thrilling game played in front of a crowd of over 24,000 - attracted by the club's £5 a seat offer.
"We failed to defend from two set-pieces and that cost us two points," said manager Sam Allardyce.
"In the second-half we were completely and utterly dominant, forcing Grimsby onto their back heels but paid the price of poor defending.
"I would have liked to get the win in front of such a big crowd but in the end it wasn't to be. We've got to focus on Friday now, that is going to be a huge match."
Grimsby captain Paul Groves opened the scoring from a Stuart Campbell free-kick in the first half.
Wanderers skipper Bergsson drew the sides level in the 61st minute.
However, just three minutes later the Wanderers defence failed to clear a corner and Chinese international Zhang Enhua nodded past Banks, his second in two matches. Bo Hansen rescued a point 15 minutes from time.
