YOUNG Queenslander Andrew Robinson has been voted Rainford Cricket Club first team captain at the club's annual general meeting.
Rainford will be looking to build on last year's success when the 1st XI won the Sandhurst Shield, and the under 15s and 13s won their respective leagues.
And after finishing second in the Southport and District Premier League the club hope to go one better in 2001 under Andrew's leadershi. Club chairman Paul Carter said: "Andrew was the players' choice and he will be an excellent ambassador for the club".
Experienced pace man Phil Schofield takes over the seconds and president Tony Hemingway is once again co-ordinating the junior set-up with the club running sides at under 11s, under13s, under 15s and under 18s. Indoor nets recommence on Mondays from February 26 between 6 and 8pm at Rainford High School. New players are very welcome, contact John Williams on 886270.
