PUPILS in Blackpool will never be "board" again when learning about the perils of drug use after Lancashire County Council launched a special game for use in schools recently.

The game, entitled Joint Efforts, puts players into various situations and looks at how to deal with potential problems concerning drug abuse.

County Councillor Dorothy Westell, who is responsible for the youth and community service, said the game was created specifically with secondary school pupils in mind and has proved so popular the format has been sold abroad as far as Australia.

She said: "Over the past year 160 teachers have been trained in using Joint Efforts. The game is all about awareness and it allows serious drug policy information to be put across in a creative and participatory way. The response so far has been very positive."
