DOZENS of cat lovers enjoyed a fabuulous day on Saturday at the South Ribble Pet Cat Club 7th annual cat show in Leyland.

As well as more than 100 'ordinary' moggies competing for a range of rosettes and trophy prizes there was an exhibition of pedigree cats at the show held at Worden High School, in Westfield Drive, Leyland, on Saturday (February 17).

Best in show winners included, in the junior section, Kipling (pictured with owner, Bamber Bridge vet Amanda Hogan) and Chorley's George, a seven-month-old kitten, who won a whole host of prizes -- including overall best cat.

Money raised from the show goes to the club's associated registered charity, the South Ribble Pet Cat Club (SRPCC).

Show manager Carol Walker said: "More than 80 cats took part in the event and the judges had a tough time on their hands to choose winners.

"George was a real hit. He has lovely markings and a personality to match. The judges were walking round cuddling him. He's just gorgeous. But we'd like to thank everyone for taking part.

"So far the show has raised around £1,000 to £1,100 and the money will benefit the charity immensely."

As a special treat for those attending there was also a special appearance from Preston moggie Amadeus who scooped top honours at the Supreme Cat Show last November after beating 120 hopefuls to be crowned Supreme Non-Pedigree Exhibit.

Visitors also got the chance to browse around a range of charity stalls selling a variety of goods along with a raffle, 'win-a-prize-every-time' tombola and a refreshments stall.

The SRPCC Cat Welfare Trust always requires cash to help needy cats. Donations should be sent to the charity at 11 St Saviours Close, Bamber Bridge, Preston, PR5 6AH.
