A TINY cat has used up one of its nine lives after being hit by a car -- but the hunt is on for her owners.

The cat, a ginger and white tortoiseshell female, was hit by a taxi in the Scotforth Road area of Lancaster last Wednesday.

Sue Preston took the cat to the Bay veterinary practice on Queen Street after the crash, which was witnessed by her husband.

It has suffered slight nerve damage to one foot and vets say that it may need acupuncture in the future.

And, with the vets ready to let the cat leave, Sue is launching a search for the real owners.

Sue told The Citizen: "The cat was hit by a taxi last Wednesday afternoon. The taxi didn't stop, but my husband, who was just driving behind him, picked her up and we took her to the vets practice we use.

"She has lost one of her nine lives, but she still has eight left and she's a very friendly little cat.

"She didn't have any kind of name tag or identification on her, but we think her owners must be from the area.

"She was hit near the junction with Belle Vue Terrace, so we think she may be from one of the roads near there.

"We can't look after her ourselves unfortunately, because we already have two cats and an airedale terrier, so we are very keen to get her back to her owners."
