A 33-YEAR-OLD father from Colne died after falling from the second floor of Nelson bus station.
Mehfooz Hussain, 33, of Lune Street, was taken to Burnley General Hospital with multiple injuries but died an hour later.
Police were called to the bus station at around 10.20am yesterday where they found the victim lying in the exit of the Sagar Street end of the bus station.
Paramedics stabilised Mr Hussain at the scene and he was taken to hospital wearing a neck brace.
A police spokesman said: "We are treating this as a non-suspicious death out-of-doors and we are not at this stage making any further inquiries into it."
Mr Hussain had a wife and a young son who are staying with his parents in Earl Street, Colne.
Ron Loebell was repairing the lights on the bus station for Lancashire County Council when Mr Hussain fell to his death. Mr Loebell said: "We were having a brew when we heard a lot of commotion and about eight police officers went running down the bus station.
"The lad was lying on the floor on his back. The paramedics were there within a matter of minutes and put him in a neck brace and he was still moving then."
The bus exit route on that side of the bus station was already cordoned off for the engineering work being carried out by Lancashire County Council and the police directed traffic around the area for around one hour.
Mr Hussain's family were too upset to comment.
