WALKERS are invited to join a series of treks around East Lancashire led by volunteer and countryside rangers.
Bill Mason will lead an 'easy pace' six mile walk on Saturday, taking in Saddle and Fairsnape Fells. It should take around four to five hours and will focus on landscape and local history.
Andrew Greenwood will lead a wilderness walk into parts of the Bowland Fells which are not normally accessible to the public on Sunday.
On Saturday March 3, Peter Short will lead a walk along the Ferndean Way, exploring the history and natural history of the countryside between Colne and Wycoller. The walk begins at Colne bus station at 10.45am. It will last around four-and-a-half miles and take around six hours.
A close up of Beacon Fell and a stroll around Beacon Fell Country Park is organised for Saturday March 10. The walk will be easy going and adaptable to suit varying abilities.
Start at the Bowland Visitor Centre, Beacon Fell at 2pm. It should last between one-and-a-half to two hours.
A walk on Saturday March 31 incorporates a ride on a steam train on the East Lancashire Railway to Ramsbottom, followed by a five-mile walk along Irwell Valley Sculpture Trail. Start at Rossendale Groundwork Car Park, New Hall Hey.
