Lytham Mens 1st XI 5 Chester 2 AGAINST a team who had beaten them 6-0 back in October and who now lie second in the league, LSA produced an outstanding performance.

This victory continues their winning streak which has lasted since Christmas. LSA scored early on when Tom Atkinson provided a perfect pass for David Hans to deflect home following a specialist short corner routine.

Dave Robbins then repeated the drill to score the second.

The match was played at a frenetic pace throughout and the home side showed great determination to continually pressurise their man.

Duncan Shields returned from injury to play well at centre back, while LSA's superb spirit was epitomised by their skipper Richard McGee.

LSA conceded a goal in the first half although Craig Nuttall quickly re-established the two goal lead. After the break LSA were rewarded when good play down the left wing ended with Charles Batho scoring from the top of the circle.

David Hans in one of his typical sorties up field from left back, found himself adequately positioned to put the score beyond doubt.

The local team must now be favourites to gain second place in the league by the end of the season. ON Sunday LSA 2nd XI lost a rearranged league match against Manchester University after once again squandering chances.

In the last four minutes they conceded a goal giving Danny Horne no chance. Doug Green and John Langford were outstanding while the third XI skipper David Bleasdale starred at right back.

The recipe was much the same on Saturday against Liverpool Sefton with good chances going astray and the opposition taking full advantage of the occasional defensive lapses.

And so the sad saga goes on. May the good Lord send LSA some good strikers quickly! LSA 3rd and 4th XI LSA 3rd XI beat Bolton 4th XI 2-2 with goals from Gavin Roberts in the first half and Ian Brown in the second but the 4th XI paid the price for the number of injuries at the club being forced to field a very inexperienced team and went down 6-0 to Southport.

The Badgers drew 0-0 with Urmston.
