BURNLEY boss Stan Ternent was left fuming today after Ian Cox was dramatically whisked away by Trinidad and Tobago for a World Cup qualifier with Jamaica.

Ternent thought he had a verbal agreement in place with Trinidad boss Ian Porterfield which meant that Cox would not miss any games for the Clarets.

But the defender's 11th hour call-up now means he has been ruled out of Burnley's clash with Huddersfield at Turf Moor this weekend.

Cox had linked up with his international team-mates last week for a training camp in London but missed their friendly against Premier Division Charlton.

However, Porterfield has now called on the former Bournemouth defender for next week's Concacaf World Cup clash against the Jamaicans.

And the 29-year-old was due to fly out today to link up with the squad ahead of the match.

If Cox plays on Wednesday night it will be his second cap for his country having previously appeared on the international stage during his time with Bournemouth.
