WHIRLING visions of windmills could transform part of Fleetwood rubbish tip into a tourist attraction if proposals are accepted to build a wind farm on the site.
Local Liberal Democrats are leading this innovative campaign to build a wind powered farm on land on the edge of the River Wyre to generate electricity for the area.
Steven Bate, the prospective parliamentary candidate for the area, said: "I asked our MEP Chris Davis to visit and see the potential for himself. I will shortly be asking for support from Wyre Council, Lancashire County Council and nearby Blackpool Council.
"Wind power is effective, efficient, clean, safe and sustainable. The turbines are quite elegant and inspiring to look at. I urge local people to support this proposal."
Mr Bate is suggesting National Wind Power establish and operate the wind farm. National Wind Power has already built 13 successful wind farms in the UK and some evidence suggests that they can enhance tourism.
