GARETH Taylor is hoping he does enough in his loan spell to secure a permanent deal at Turf Moor.
The Manchester City striker has only played one game for the Clarets so far -- Tuesday night's 2-1 victory over league leaders Fulham -- but he is impressed with everything he has seen.
"Once I heard Burnley were interested, I was desperate to come. It's a massive club," said the 27-year-old who was also being pursued by Sheffield Wednesday and clubs in Holland.
"I'm just grateful for a chance to play for Burnley, to get regular first team football, and we'll see if anything comes from that.
"The Sheffield Wednesday deal could have gone ahead earlier in the season when Burnley weren't linked with me but when the option of Burnley came up, that was it."
And Taylor's first experience of life at Turf Moor was a pleasant one as he helped to halt a run of three successive defeats with the win over the Cottagers.
"I only met the lads on Tuesday morning and all of a sudden I was playing on Tuesday night.
"Luckily I knew Ian Cox and Glen Little from my time at Crystal Palace and I also knew Steve Davis.
"But they seem a great bunch of lads and there is a very good spirit.
"And the support at Turf Moor is absolutely brilliant.
"I was surprised by how well the fans treated me, it was a great atmosphere.
"They were right behind the team and drove us to victory."
Somerset-born Taylor, whose contract at City runs out in the summer, has struggled to get games under his belt with the Sky Blues making just 34 starts since his £400,000 move from Sheffield United in the summer of 1998.
He was loaned out to QPR and Port Vale last season.
But he has been finding the back of the net in the Blues second string -- and aims to repeat the success at Turf Moor.
"I just wanted to score as many goals as possible. I got some in City's reserves and now I'm looking forward to banging in the goals for Burnley.
"Everything has gone well for me so far -- despite only playing one game! The gaffer has been great and just told me to get on with my usual game.
"Coming in to face Fulham was probably the best game to come into even though some people had been saying it was the worst because of Burnley's poor run.
"Fulham are a good side but we raised our game and got the result and now I'm looking forward to another home game against Huddersfield. Hopefully we'll play with the same tempo and build on the result."
And Taylor, despite not knowing Ian Moore up until this week, thinks they could get a good partnership going up front, if selected together.
"He was brilliant. It was the first time I met him but we all worked hard for each other.
"And he nicked in and got the final touch to put the ball over the line for the equaliser against Fulham although I'm sure it was going in all ready!"
