NORTH End's youth team beat high-flyers Tranmere Rovers 2-1 last week in the North West Youth Alliance League at Preston Sports Arena.
But it took a last-gasp strike by Michael Keane to make sure of the hard-fought win.
For all both teams' efforts the first half ended goalless.
But it didn't take too much of the second half before Preston's young guns found the net.
With just five minutes of the half gone a long clearance from Andy Lonergan fell to Lee Madin he slotted under Tranmere's keeper.
But the visitors from Merseyside were in no mood to roll over and were spurred on by losing the goal.
And their forays into the Preston danger zone were rewarded just quarter of an hour later when they equalised through another long through ball.
But with just minutes to go, North End's Michael Keane won a corner which was swung into the net to give Preston the win.
