A GROUP of Bury musical students have been getting in tune with the pop industry by forming their own band.
Velvertone were created as part of a pilot project by Bury College to teach students completing their Btec National Diploma in Popular Music about the music business.
In addition to writing and performing the seven-strong group will conduct a planned marketing exercise and thrash out details about gig venues and tickets.
Bury College head of music, Richard Longden said: "The whole idea is to give them an experience of the industry so that when they leave they will have that on their CVs."
The band consists of Gary Bill (guitar), Steven Burke (guitar and vocals), John Entwistle (guitar, vocals and keyboard), John Paul Gabbott (keyboard programming), Stephen Roscoe (drums and percussion), Tim Grime (bass) and Gaz Williams (drums and percussion).
