A MAN caught up in trouble following the Bolton Wanderers v Blackburn Rovers match ended up arrested.
Paul McWilliams, 27, had not been to the game, but was in Preston town centre when a disturbance broke out, said his solicitor. He was spotted banging on a pub window.
McWilliams, of Stonyhurst Road, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly. Preston magistrates fined him £75 with £50 costs.
The court heard that trouble occurred in Church Street, Preston, involving around 40 people. Supporters had travelled by train from Horwich Parkway, stopping off in Preston.
McWilliams was allegedly seen punching out at a pub window.
The court heard McWiliams was subject of an exclusion order from Liverpool football ground.
Solicitor Paul Schofield said McWilliams had not been to the match. He had travelled to Preston to meet friends for a night out.
Mr Schofield said: "He was not a part of the trouble, but was caught up in it."
"He began to run because many others were running. He accepts he banged on a pub window as he ran past."
