LAST Saturday's cup performance against Atherton LR was quickly forgotten on Tuesday as Daisy Hill put in a disappointing performance in a 5-2 loss against Chadderton.
Assistant manager Brian Smith says: "We have a young, inexperienced team and we should realise that performances will be up and down. At the moment our main problem is finding a level of consistency.
"Against LR our defending was excellent but against Chadderton we were at sixes and sevens and at times it looked as though they'd never played together before.
"Until the match gets underway manager Brian Richardson and I don't really know what level of performances we are going to get from the boys."
Smith adds: "In the first 20 minutes against Chadderton we were awful and made four individual errors which all led to goals. To our credit we showed great character and fought back to make a game of it.
"We cannot fault the players' commitment and effort in matches but it is frustrating and difficult when individual errors cost you goals every week."
Daisy Hill's reward for getting through against LR is a home quarter-final next Saturday against Alsager. Tomorrow Daisy Hill entertain potential champions Squires Gate.
"They beat us 1-0 up in Blackpool two weeks ago," says Smith. "We were very unlucky not to get a result that day and are looking to overturn that result tomorrow."
New signing from Chorley, Gary Crompton, returns tomorrow after being cup tied for the LR game. Next Tuesday, Daisy Hill travel to Castleton Gabriels.
