ARMED robbers are being hunted after they escaped with a haul of cash after threatening staff in a night raid at the KwikSave supermarket in Bolton Road, Atherton.
Three hooded men wielding heavy, large silver coloured adjustable spanners on Monday burst in to the busy discount store on the outskirts of the town centre near the end of the day's trading.
Shocked staff handed over an undisclosed amount of the day's takings to the balaclava clad trio who were all described as white and in their 20s.
They escaped in a Vauxhall Vectra.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information about the robbers to contact Leigh CID on 0161 856 7352 or Crimestoppers 0800 555 111.
