TWO Sri Lankans suspected of being illegal immigrants were discovered on Wednesday night in the back of a lorry which was delivering a consignment of electrical goods to a local warehouse.
They are believed to have travelled in to the country alongside the goods which were being transported from Italy to Exel Logistics Comet distribution depot in Ashton Road, Golborne.
Leigh Police Chief Inspector Ken Dickson told The Journal: "The male stow-aways were found when the trailer was opened up.
"They were taken to Leigh police station and handed over to immigration authorities."
As we went to press the authorities were unable to confirm who the stow-aways were and whether they would be given asylum or deported.
