BOLTON comedian Peter Kay's second series "Phoenix Nights" came to the end of its successful run on Sunday.
And believe it or not Golborne played a part in the series.
Before the show was written Horwich entertainer Gerry King claimed Peter visited him at his home to learn about life in the local clubs of Wigan and Bolton.
He told him of the time in the Sixties when the organ was stolen from Golborne Conservative Club and thieves put crates under the cover so that no-one realised. An episode featuring that storyline appeared early in the series.
Every town has its characters and believe me Golborne has more than its fair share. I've lived there and met them!
