WOULD like to thank Blackburn with Darwen Council, and all the other organisations involved, for the well planned and organised long-awaited day of the blowing up of Mill Hill flats in Blackburn.
The removal of the unsightly flats will make a great difference to the Mill Hill community. It should give us back our good name and property values. I have lived opposite the flats for the past 32 years and seen lots of changes. It has already made a difference to my outlook -- I can actually see sky when opening my curtains.
Let's hope the land is put to some good use. Retirement bungalows or sheltered accommodation would be good, as we have all the amenities anyone could wish for.
Let's hope the council can spend some money in the area instead of elsewhere -- a good clean up of the streets, the uneven pavements and roads and renovating of property and fencing. So come on, Blackburn with Darwen Council, let's put Mill Hill back on the map.
MRS L WRIGHT, St Aidans Avenue, Blackburn.
