BLACKBURN Rovers today slammed talk of a £4 million swap dealing involving Damien Duff and Sunderland winger Kevin Kilbane.

A story in the North East over the weekend claimed Rovers boss Graeme Souness is ready to trade Duff for the former West Brom winger.

But Ewood chief executive John Williams today insisted there's no truth in the report whatsoever.

"I haven't a clue where this story has come from but there's absolutely nothing in that whatsoever," said Williams.

"There hasn't been any discussions at any level at any time with anybody about Damien.

"Graeme is very happy with Damien and Damien seems to be very happy with us.

"And Kevin Kilbane is a name Graeme has never mentioned to us."

Sunderland boss Peter Reid is clearly on the look-out for a winger after recently being linked with a move for PSV Eindhoven wide-man Dennis Rommedahl.

However, he stands little chance of prizing Duff away from Ewood after Souness categorically insisting the Republic of Ireland international was not for sale when he was linked with a £3 million switch to Sunderland's north east rivals Newcastle United last week.

"Damien Duff is not for sale, end of story," said Souness.

"There's absolutely no chance I'd let him go."
