A PENSIONER is set to become a household name after her performance on national television left a group of celebrities in stitches.
Ada Gibson wowed the stars appearing on Jonathon Ross's comic quiz show, It's Only TV But I Like It, on Friday night.
The larger-than-life pensioner was asked to give descriptions of famous people and television programmes as part of the quiz, which involves the celebrity panellists guessing what she is talking about.
Ada will be making three appearances on the programme this series but is hoping for a special fourth appearance on April 6 when she celebrates her 86th birthday, which she sang about for the TV cameras.
Today Ada, of Grange Street, Clayton-le-Moors, said: "I took part in the last series after the researchers read about me in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph. They wanted me to travel down to London but I said that if they wanted me to go on their TV programme they can come to me."
That's exactly what the TV production company, Open Mike Productions, did, invading the nearby Sparth House Hotel to film Ada's hilarious sound bites. Ada added: "I must have impressed them last year, because they were keen to have me back on. I told Julian Clary I loved him last year and this year I hope they will use my song about being a Lancashire lass.
"I think it's really good that they get old people on the programme, it proves that we can join in the fun."
Ada has become well known throughout East Lancashire for her many fund-raising activities.
Ada's next appearance on the BBC 1 hit show is on March 9 then March 23.
See if you can guess the following programmes and celebrities from Ada's clues:
This progamme featured a loud blonde woman who was very coarse and rude. She tried riding around a room on an exercise bike which is just plain daft.
The dad in this programme spends all day slobbering and lifts his leg up before trumping. One of the family has just had a baby but heaven knows how because the baby's dad doesn't look like he's up to it
He has a weatherbeaten face and a unique voice which sounds like arrrrr arrrrr. He used to be really good with paints but now all we see him doing is playing with animals. What a comedown.
