POLICE say they are still following up a number of leads after an appeal on national television to track down a wanted man.
Officers from Darwen went on BBC TV's Crimewatch Daily programme earlier this month in a bid to track down Edward O' Brien who is wanted after failing to turn up to a crown court trial in Burnley.
Such was the response to his appeal that Darwen CID are now following some positive leads in Scotland, particularly in the Kilmarnock area where he is known to have family.
O' Brien, 22, whose last given address was in Darwen is believed to have gone to ground since the appeal.
Inspector Tracie O'Gara of Darwen Police said: "We are currently working with our colleagues in Scotland on a number of different leads given to us as a result of the appeal.
"The TV appearance was very useful to us and the information provided has been vital in building up information on O'Brien's whereabouts."
