AFTER nearly four years of a Labour government our Council Tax is due to rise again at above the inflation rate.
This three times inflation increase is expected to be 8.3 per cent, even above last year's rise of 6.6 per cent.
Who do our councillors blame?
Could it be a reflection of their management of Wigan MBC, not at all? They say it is the fault of that New Labour government which we were told would be so beneficial to Wigan when elected. What has gone so wrong?
Is it surprising that the selection on the Labour candidate has reached the level of near farce? No one seems to be able to complete the selection process.
The losers in this, as always, are the electors. The lack of a candidate has created a void.
For a few weeks before the election there is no one to defend the short changing of Wigan MBC, rising crime and reducing police numbers and stealth taxes etc.
We in Leigh need the political debate to start now and not have to wait until Labour party in fighting is over.
