MORE than a quarter of a century of tradition came to an end yesterday as one of Darwen Market's friendliest and most familiar faces called it a day.
Dorothy Wood, who runs a stall which sells mainly men's clothing but also towels on the market, retired yesterday after 26 years, much to the disappointment of other traders.
Brenda Cronshaw, who runs a stall on Darwen's three-day market said: "Dorothy has been one of the most friendly faces around the market for years, we will be very sad to see her go." A presentation to mark the occasion was made to her by other traders who gathered to see her off and many echoed the sentiments of Brenda.
