Wigan St Cuthberts 12 Bold Miners 18
BOLD recovered from conceding a try virtually from the kick-off to record another hard-earned success.
The visitors quickly hit back from that early blow when a break by Paul Rigby gave Darren Anders the chance to send brother Chris in under the posts.
Then super sub Nick Joseph made an immediate impact, crashing through three would-be tacklers for Bold's second try. Darren Anders added his second conversion to make it 12-6.
St Cuthberts started strongly after the break but could find no way through a resolute Bold defence in which Chris Biurgess, Mark Saunders and Dave Scott excelled.
The visitors made sure of victory when good work by Ian Honey and Wes Singleton led to Joseph powering in for his second try, again goaled by Anders, although the home side grabbed a late consolation try.
Ian Honey took the Grundy Excavations man-of-the-match, with Paul Rigby, Chris Burgess and Ste Dumphy also playing well.
