THE Barnoldswick Gala will go ahead this year on August 4 despite doubts over its future after it was discovered the usual road closures during the event were illegal.
Organisers of the gala have had meetings with the police and Pendle Borough Council and a change of route has been agreed.
The procession will travel from Calf Mill Hill, along Calf Hall Road before turning left into Walmsgate and through the town centre.
It will go along Station Road, across the Fernlea Avenue/Skipton Road junction and continue its traditional route along Wellhouse Road and Skipton Road to Victory Park. The Barnoldswick and Earby Round Table would like volunteers to marshall the event.
Blocking traffic between the A56 and A59 for an hour and a half would be too costly and the new route would only affect the flow of traffic for up to 15 minutes.
