TWO members of an Atherton club were each fined £75 after underpaying a cabaret act and pocketing the difference.
Geoffrey Cleworth, 56, and Trevor Worgan, 44, who were both members of the Atherton Sailors' and Soldiers' Club, were given the task of paying £1,000 to book a band for a grand Millennium New Year's Eve party.
But after hiring local band Diablo for the evening the pair only paid the group £850 for the night's work and stole the remaining £150.
At Minshull Street Crown Court, Manchester, yesterday a jury found Cleworth and Worgan guilty of theft after a four-day trial.
Cleworth, of Lancaster Avenue, Atherton, and Worgan, of Windermere Avenue, Atherton, had both denied theft.
