THE Citadel Arts Centre played host to a party of foreign visitors when journalists from Brussels visited the area to see for themselves that artistic talent is flourishing in the region.
The journalists were shown around the newly-refurbished building in Waterloo Street, while Citadel staff explained the aims of the Arts Ambassadors in Schools Scheme, which aims to raise the profile of arts in primary and secondary schools, as well as for the wider community.
The visitors also met local artists, who make their living through their creative skills, and who have been supported by the council-led Creative Industries Initiative. They were invited to explore the artists' new website, featuring an impressive selection of work and showcasing the wealth of creative talent in St Helens.
The visit was organised by Jo Broad, St Helens Council's Art Support Officer, to highlight the high quality of artistic work in the borough.
