RESIDENTS of a Blackburn housing estate are fighting back against drug addicts and yobs they claim are making their lives a misery.
People living in the Leyburn Road area of Waterloo are organising a petition to try to get the junkies kicked out.
They claim many teenagers are taking drugs in the area.
And other youngsters are causing crime and making themselves a nuisance.
The action follows two attacks on pensioners on the estate last weekend when one lady was stabbed in the face.
Minnie Butler, 86, bravely managed to fight off an intruder at her house in Bunker's Hill Close even though she was bleeding heavily from a cut inflicted on her cheek.
She said: "I'm not going to let this put me off going out but I wouldn't mind living somewhere else now."
In the second attack 78-year-old Jim Birch, of Heys Close, had his glasses broken when a youth burst in to his flat. Mrs Butler today spoke out in favour of the petition while recovering at home with her husband William.
She said: "I think it's a good idea if they can move these people away. It would be a good thing for the whole estate."
