THE Pendle Farmers' Market in Nelson town centre has been postponed following advice from the National Association of Farmers' Markets.
Pendle Council, which organises the market every first and third Saturday in the month in Nelson and Colne alternately, decided to cancel this weekend's market as a precautionary measure.
Estates officer Sharon Livesey said: "Most farmers who attend the market have livestock on their farms. They have been advised to stay on their farms, where possible and they will therefore be unable to attend farmers' markets."
A smaller market for farmers without livestock who sell vegetables and chutney will be set up near the outdoor market in Nelson, on Saturday.
A decision over the next Pendle Farmers' Market in Colne, due on March 17, will be made nearer to the time.
