Military funeral for Scots Guard A CHURCH was packed for the funeral of Scots Guard Martin Rimmer, who was found dead in his barracks.
Father Joseph Waring, priest of St Michael and St John's RC Church, Lowergate, Clitheroe, said about 350 people attended the service yesterday.
Martin, 22, of St Paul's Street, Low Moor, Clitheroe, was honoured with a full military funeral, attended by about 80 soldiers and former teachers and school friends as well as family and friends.
Army chaplain Father Andrew Lloyd gave the eulogy. The burial was at Clitheroe cemetery.
Martin, a Buckingham Palace guard, was found dead in his Wellington Barracks on February 11. It is believed he had been drinking, and five colleagues from his regiment were arrested and questioned by the Metropolitan Police. They were later released on police bail. An inquest has been opened and adjourned for toxicology tests.
