THREE Blackpool students have gone cuppa crazy and won an award for their coffee in a national competition. Chris Smith, 23, Matthew Holder, 18, and Chris Murphy 19, all students at Blackpool and the Fylde college won the Best Coffee award in the prestigious catering competition Nestle Toque d'Or at the Birmingham NEC.
The three had to produce a meal and dessert for eight people -- which they called Big Dipper -- and come up with an idea for a new coffee drink.
Out of the 32 teams taking part from all around the country, it was the Blackpool boys' coffee, The Drop Zone, which most impressed the judges.
"It was a good mix of flavours -- a creamy mild coffee milkshake with spirals of strong, dark coffee syrup," said chairman of the judges Roger Narbett, chef to the English football team.
"Simply delicious!" he added.
