A MINUTE'S silence was held at local league football matches at the weekend as a mark of respect for Ramsbottom United's Ken Bridge.
Mr Bridge (57), of Pembroke Drive, Bury, collapsed and died after his team's game last week (Feb 20).
He was a highly-respected figure in sporting circles and was in his seventh season in charge. His side postponed their scheduled games on Saturday and tonight following the tragedy.
All matches played on Saturday (Feb 24) in the North West Counties League held a minute's silence in his honour.
Radcliffe Boro, where he was a former manager, and Prestwich Heys were among local clubs who observed the silence.
His funeral will take place today (Fri March 2)on Friday at St Peter's Church, St Peter's Road, Bury, at 10.30am, followed by committal at Rochdale Crematorium.
Donations, via Silletts Funeral Service in Radcliffe, can be made to the "New Heart New Start" appeal at Wythenshawe Hospital or to the coronary care unit at Bury General Hospital.
