ONE of the infamous upside down trees on the Lancaster to Caton cycle path has been felled by someone using a chainsaw.
The controversial public artwork, which cost £7,000, has been the subject of derision and scorn since being erected by London-based artist Giles Kent last summer.
But the authority has described the latest incident as an "act of vandalism" and have encouraged local people to shop the person responsible.
Cllr Paul Morris said: "We are deeply saddened by this act. There's no excuse for breaking the law and the police are aware of this matter. The council is now in discussions with the artist Giles Kent on how best to carry out remedial work."
