DOZENS of young people celebrated all their hard work when they were presented with Duke of Edinburgh awards in Hindley.
A total of 62 youngsters received bronze awards from Wigan mayor Joan Hurst at the ceremony in the Monaco Ballroom. The dedicated teenagers and young adults aged 14 to 24 completed four sections of physical recreation, skills, expeditions and service. Some completed their tasks in just six months instead of the usual 12 months. Many were from high schools in Leigh and Golborne, as well as the Duke of Edinburgh group based in Kingsleigh Methodist Church in Leigh who meet on Wednesdays. Youngsters were also given silver and gold awards.
