A HOLIDAY race has been revived to bring May Day fun to the village.
The popular 10k run is set to take place once again in Golborne town centre on May 7.
The Golborne Community Forum and Town Centre Management Initiative have revived the event as part of the town centre marketing programme designed to promote the area and attract more visitors.
Organisers Edwina Burgess of the forum and town centre co-ordinator Laurie Barton are now appealing for runners to take part in the race which starts on Golborne Park at 11am.
There will also be a two mile fun run for schools, children, and people who don't fancy the full distance.
All finishers of the 10k will receive a t-shirt and fun runners a medal.
Laurie said: "There will be something for all the family as well as a tug o'war between local pubs."
The Royal Bank of Scotland will help to fund the event and other local support has come from Vimto in the form of drinks for the runners and Carlsberg who have donated t-shirts.
Entry forms are available in town centre shops and the library and can also be found on line at www.ukresults.net/or by contacting Laurie Barton on 01942 735188 who will also provide running clubs or sports clubs with an allocation.
