IT HAS been my task over the past 20 years to compile the history of the Legion of Frontiersmen, particularly in the light of the Legion's approaching centenary in 2004/5. It has been a difficult task as most of the Legion records were destroyed in the bombing of London in 1940.
While I have masses of information, previously unpublished, on the years 1904-1918, our records of the years between the wars when there were many thousands of Frontiersmen in uniform are very scanty.
I was delighted in a November BBC Antiques Roadshow from Blackpool to see the medals of CSM Moyse together with a photograph of him in the uniform of an officer of the Legion of Frontiersmen.
Can any resident tell me of a Blackpool troop of that period between the wars and whether they have any records of photographs of a parent or grandparent who served in the Legion.
The Legion of Frontiersmen will be grateful for any information and I shall, of course, reply to all letters.
