PLEASE restrain P. Doherty (Fifth Column). It was not my intention to deter him from his comments on the local scene (my teenage relatives find it amusing). But P. Doherty appears to have made up his mind already on the euro after completing his lengthy tax returns.
So can I ask which way he will be voting and why? Will he please let me into the secret and set out the position on this major issue?
I understand that during decimal changeover the Bury Times did a feature on that particular issue, which was a far less critical one than the adoption of the euro.
Is it too boring for P. Doherty, or does it challenge his intellectual powers? Or, like a number of journalists, is he ready to criticise and to trivialise but not willing give us the facts?
