BURY Town Hall is to improve access for disabled people and those with mobility problems with the installation of a new lift.
The eight-person capacity lift was commissioned to improve access to all areas of the Town Hall and will run in tandem with the original lift which is now deemed to be too small to comply with modern standards and which, because of its age, can be unreliable.
The new lift will feature all the latest facilities for use by disabled people. These include low-height and illuminated control buttons with Braille markings, a handrail, bright floor-level display, a voice synthesizer and two-way emergency voice link.
