REGULAR waste paper collections will be launched in Burnley in April -- to cut down on landfill demand and boost the town's recycling campaign.
Waste firm Swinnerton Brothers have signed up with the council to carry out the once-fortnightly doorstep collections from every house in town.
Special sacks and a collection calendar are going out to homes throughout the borough and residents are being urged to start collecting old newspapers, magazines directories and junk mail for the April 2 start date.
Each year the contractor will give a generous donation to a local group or charity.
The coming closure of Burnley's landfill site at Rowley tip will mean a shake-up of household rubbish collections, say council cleansing chiefs.
There will be a change of collection day for many properties and letters outlining the changes will go out to every household later this month.
A council spokesman said that even if collection day remains the same, residents should present their waste bins by 7am because the time of collection may be different.
