RESIDENTS and community groups will meet on Monday to set up a new Park Supporters Group.
People living around the River Darwen Parkway and Higher Croft Woods areas will discuss how they can work with Blackburn with Darwen Council to to manage and sustain the community parkway.
The area was developed by Groundwork Blackburn and the council, in partnership with community groups and schools.
Over the last four years various groups have worked to develop a series of millennium art features for the park and to be actively involved in community and celebratory events, including a series of large scale sculptures, 21 art frames and a Millennium Festival.
It is hoped local residents can continue the work and support the parkway's on-going development.
The parkway has been developed using National Lottery funding through the Millennium Commission. Groundwork project officer Charlotte Reynolds said: "This is a brilliant opportunity for local people to get involved in supporting this important environment and community resource and anyone wanting to find out more is very welcome to come to Monday's meeting."
