PAULINE Bolton never forgot the kindness of Macmillan Nurses when her husband Keith was taken ill.
More than a year after his tragic death on Millennium Eve she organised a fund raising concert to say thank you to the cancer nurses.
Pauline, of Beefold Lane, Atherton, arranged for the Wigan Youth Band to play in St Richard's RC Church, Atherton, on February 16 -- and the event raised £1,400 with the help of sponsors.
Pauline said Keith was taken ill on December 15 1999 and was unaware that he had cancer. While he was in hospital in Bolton the Macmillan Nurses were about all the time.
She said: "They were a great help. I wanted to raise money for the organisation so they can help others in the same position.
"My thanks go to Chequers, Westhoughton, The Tavern on Hunger Hill, Tesco, Waterfields, Bents, Paul Michael hairdressers and of course the Wigan Youth Band for all their assistance."
