STOCKPORT County boss Andy Kilner was happy to inch closer towards his survival target as last night's 0-0 draw with Burnley kept the Hatters two points clear of the drop zone.
Kilner took comfort from avoiding defeat, although felt his side had shaded a scrappy derby ruined by the weather.
The former Clarets winger said: "The conditions were absolutely appalling. The wind was gale-force at times and swirling not from end or another and made it virtually impossible to get the ball down and pass it.
"But you've got to give credit to the players for sticking at it. We didn't lost and it was vitally important that we picked up another point.
"We've got to take that out of it and I've got to say that over the course of the game I thought we caused them more problems than they did us, both in the first half and the second, although it wasn't a classic."
Kilner praised his central defensive duo of Mike Flynn and Leo Roget for keeping out Gareth Taylor and County old boy Ian Moore but saw his own strikers draw a blank at the other end on a night of few goalscoring opportunities.
Reflecting on openings for the County duo of Shefki Kuqi and Jarkko Wiss, he added: "Apart from a couple of balls into our box I don't think they caused us that many problems.
"There was nothing cut-and-dried or clear-cut chances but I thought over the course of the game we created more than we did."
