SOCCER: Preston moved back into the top six after a hard-earned 1-1 draw at bottom club Tranmere -- their first draw since November.
Jon Macken netted his 17th goal of the season after latching onto Lee Cartwight's cross after just eight minutes.
But battling Rovers came back when Micky Mellon, on loan from Burnley, fired in a cross which Wayne Allison converted on 58 minutes.
There were nine bookings in a hot-tempered game where Jason Koumas -- whose tackle broke Steve Basham's leg earlier in the season -- was lucky to stay on the pitch following a challenge on Michael Jackson.
"We're back in the top six for the first time since October which is pleasing," said manager David Moyes.
